The Adobe Adobe Project

Situated on the border of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community and the Lehi community within Mesa, the Adobe Abode Project explores notions of space and scale. Using a single-family home as a platform for imaginative exploration across various scales, it challenges conventional boundaries between model and architecture.

Beginning with preliminary sketch models and employing natural materials, the project blurs these boundaries by embodying characteristics of both an office desk and a traditional dwelling. Through features such as adobe brick application, exposed wooden beams, and an open, contemporary floor plan, each element pays homage to the rich history of Native American housing while remaining sensitive to the Lehi family neighborhood where it resides.
